The Toronto Council on Aging (TCA) is seeking enthusiastic, creative, and committed individuals who share a passion for enhancing the lives of Toronto’s older adult community. The TCA is governed by an intergenerational 15-person volunteer Board of Directors. There are currently 4 Director vacancies These include the positions of:

About the Organization
The TCA is a charitable non-profit organization which was incorporated in 1999. TCA is one of many Councils on Aging across Ontario and Canada. The mission of the TCA is to provide leadership and education to enhance the experience of aging and encourage age-inclusive policies and practices in Toronto’s workplaces, services, organizations, and neighbourhoods. Our work centres on a shared vision for a community that respects, values, and empowers its older adults and provides them with opportunities to participate fully in their community. The roles of directors can be viewed on our website HERE. There are currently 4 Director vacancies. Please indicate which roles interest you should you decide to join us.
Much of the work completed by the TCA Board of Directors will occur in a hybrid capacity (mix of in-person and virtual participation). Individuals interested in joining the Board must be open to learning new forms of online communication (i.e. Zoom and Google Drive).
Skills and Experience
We are interested in individuals with the following skills and areas of expertise:
● Community outreach with newcomer communities, racialized and ethnic minority communities
● Fundraising
● Event planning
● Marketing and promotion
● Familiarity with senior services (e.g. recreation, programming, social care, health Care) and issues affecting seniors (e.g. housing, neighbourhoods, pensions, community work)
● Previous work with non-profit organizations
● Experience as treasurer and/or accounting experience
● Leadership competencies (strategic planning, issues management, collaboration)

Time Commitment
Directors on the Board make a commitment to serving a three-year term. TCA is a working volunteer board with a monthly time commitment of a minimum of 20 hours. This time commitment includes:
● Attending monthly board meetings (Fourth Tuesday of every month from 5:30-7:30pm)
● Participation in at least two committees
● Participation in TCA project meetings/programming
● Contribution to task groups and/or other Ad Hoc Committee work as needed
