Committees

The Toronto Council on Aging’s grassroots approach is implemented through the work of its committees. If you’re interested in getting involved, please see the information below for opportunities to participate in those committees and support the community-building activities of TCA.

Toronto Council on Aging – committees, as of March 2021

All projects of the organization are supported by 4 committees; 3 of these committees are now actively seeking new members (in bold below):

Fundraising Committee (recruiting members)
Brief Description:
This committee works on developing innovative initiatives (i.e. events, campaigns, corporate sponsor engagement) to generate operational revenue and expand TCA’s donor base.

 

 

Communications Committee (recruiting members)
Brief Description:
This committee is responsible for raising awareness about the TCA and promoting its various programs and initiatives through social and print media. The committee also works to cross promote the work of other community groups who share similar interests

 

 

Outreach Committee and Membership Sub-Committee (recruiting members)

Brief Description: This joint committee supports one of the TCA’s core values of working collaboratively with other organizations and building the TCA community. It also builds and actively maintains relationships and partnerships with organizations that will increase the TCA’s reach and profile as a key player in the non-profit older adults sector in Toronto. The membership subcommittee is responsible for building the TCA’s membership base.

 

Rotational (ad-hoc) Committee- no new members needed at this time


Promoting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The Council strives to have members who mirror the diversity of the City of Toronto. We strongly encourage those persons with the following lived experiences to consider applying:

●      Equity seeking groups, ethno-culturally diverse groups, Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC)

●      Those who identify as members of the LGBTQ2S+ community

●      Proficiency in languages in addition to English

Please submit your letter of interest (clearly stating the committee(s) you are interested in) and your resume, in confidence, to the TCA’s Administrative Coordinator, at admin@torontocouncilonaging.com.  Only selected candidates will be contacted for an interview.
