On Wednesday, December 6th, the 18th Annual General Meeting was held at Christ Church Deer Park, with the President, Malcolm Stewart presiding. Reports were presented by the President, the past Treasurer, Bernard Brule, the Past President, Mary Hellin, on the Education Programs Committee, and the Age-Friendly Project:, Lilian Wells, reported on External Relations. Joanne Jasper reported on the Governance Committee and the Human Resources Committee and Debby Vigoda reported on the Communications Committee.
Mary Hellen announced that the President’s Award will be given to Jean Tice in recognition of her long service to the Toronto Council on Aging, and the community of older adults (see below). A special event is planned for the early spring to formally present her certificate of recognition.
The Keynote Speaker, Esme Fuller-Thomson, whose topic was “Flourishing Among Older Adults”, addressed the resilience in older adults, identifying the progress made in health, longevity and mental abilities. Look for her article in the Spring, May 2018 TCA Newsletter.
