The Toronto Council on Aging (TCA) has received a federal grant through the federal New Horizons program for Seniors to partner with Connected Canadian (a national digital inclusion charity) and with the NORC Innovation Center to offer a one-year program to improve the quality of their older adult residents’ lives by sustainably building their digital literacy skills and confidence.
NORC Innovation Centre (University Health Network)
The NORC Innovation Centre at University Health Network (UHN) is Canada’s first centre dedicated to reimagining aging in place. Located within Canada’s largest research hospital, NIC is driven by a bold mission: to design the future of aging in place.
With more older adults living in apartment and condo buildings than ever before, NIC develops innovative care models that align with this shift — creating opportunities for integrated care delivery and community engagement. Their first-of-its-kind approach merges health supports with community development to ensure Canadians have dignity, choice, and independence as they age.
Connected Canadians is a national digital inclusion charity that promotes digital literacy among older adults by providing free technology training and one-on-one support. Their programs empower people to use technology safely and effectively — helping seniors connect with loved ones, access services, and enrich their quality of life.
