No More Silent Battles:
A Powerful Community Conversation on Dementia
What an incredible turnout!
Our No More Silent Battles initiative began on June 30, 2026, with a virtual film screening and Q&A featuring Dr. Jenny Ingram, the documentary’s director and producer. The online event gave participants an opportunity to learn more about dementia, hear directly from Dr. Ingram, and begin an open conversation about the experiences of people living with dementia and those who support them.
The conversation continued in person on July 31, 2026, when more than 80 people joined us for a second film screening and community conversation on dementia. The turnout exceeded our expectations and demonstrated just how important it is to create spaces where people can learn, share their experiences, and speak openly about dementia.
The in-person event brought together community members, advocates, professionals, caregivers, and organizations for an evening of meaningful conversation about dementia, stigma, available support, and the importance of building more dementia-inclusive communities.
We sincerely thank our event partners, No More Silent Battles, People Ops Collective, Piat Public Health, and St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church for helping bring this meaningful initiative together.
Our Marketplace of Possibilities also connected attendees with valuable community resources and services. Thank you to FirstLight Home Care, CareLinks Organization, and Silver Wizard for participating, and to SKC, Recollectiv, Act 2 Studio Works Inc., and We Can Be for joining us as community guests.
A special thank-you goes to our panellists, Dr. Jenny Ingram, Lydia Ireland, and Sharon Chapman-Sheehan, our moderator, Alexandra Piatkowski, Amy Altwerger, and all the volunteers, supporters, and community members who contributed to such a thoughtful and engaging conversation.
The incredible response to both screenings reminds us that conversations about dementia matter. By coming together, sharing knowledge, and listening to lived experiences, we can help reduce stigma and build more informed, compassionate, supportive, and dementia-inclusive communities.
